Brockenbraugh: One Home, Three Places
She grew up in New Orleans. He's from Arizona. And the family has deep roots in California too. We designed a home where all three places show up.
His and hers, side by side. The two sides of the primary bath share the same terrazzo floor and the same turquoise lacquer vanities, so they read as one gallery. Then each goes its own way. Her side is feminine, loud, and fun: hot pink leopard wallpaper, pink glass mosaic, and brass flower hooks. His side is a piece of Arizona: a hand-painted tile mural of saguaros, mountains, a roadrunner, and a javelina, custom-made by Tucson artist Carly Quinn to fit the wall exactly.
A little California for the kids. The kids' bath brings in California color: mustard walls, painted terracotta hills, and teal fish-scale tile over the same terrazzo floor.
A calmer bedroom. The primary bedroom stays colorful but more subdued, with a lavender wall, a portrait by a Brazilian artist, a slatted headboard, and a custom high-gloss closet we designed for the couple.
Small details, big personality. Brass cactus knobs in his closet. She asked for an ombré staircase, so we gave her one that fades from deep navy to pale sky.
The result is a home that tells the couple's story in every room, bold where they wanted bold and quiet where they needed rest.
